Biography

Timothy Knatchbull is the youngest child of Patricia and John Brabourne, the 7th Lord Brabourne, and grandson of Earl Mountbatten of Burma. He attended the Dragon School in Oxford and after winning scholarships to Gordonstoun and the United World College in Wales, he read Social and Political Science at Cambridge. Following ten years as a film-maker, mostly at BBC Television, Timothy studied at Harvard’s Kennedy School before spending two years in Washington DC with the Discovery Channel.     I remember hearing the news at a village fair in Birchington, Kent. As a mother of an infant I felt profoundly upset to think what it must have been like for your mother to lose a child and for you to lose your brother. Reading your story, I think your ability to not be bitter is wonderful.

    I started reading the book last night. Could not put it down. Read until I could no longer see straight, crying my eyes out. What an amazing testimony to the courage of your family.
    One wonders what the perpetrators of such a vile, vicious and totally senseless act feel that they have achieved.
